Drumsticks are pods from the Moringa tree. These slender, hard pods are used as a vegetable. It closely depicts a Drum Stick- the one that is used for playing Drums, and that’s where it gets its name from. The pods can be cooked completely with or without peeling. The pods tastes almost like asparagus, but its taste changes depending on how it is cooked. Although, widely used in sambhar and other lentil preparations, Drumsticks can blend well with curries, koftas and can serve to be a standalone dish or an excellent side dish.
